WiFi That Keeps Dropping Out?
If the internet works fine downstairs but not in the back bedroom, or things keep dropping off halfway through, that is a fixable problem. Usually in a morning.
A real person answers, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. If we miss you, we ring back.
You are not doing anything wrong
The two most common things people tell us when they ring:
“I just want WiFi that covers the whole house.”
“I am fed up with things dropping off.”
Both are the same problem. The box your broadband company sent you is one small aerial, sitting wherever the phone socket happens to be, usually by the front door. It has to push a signal through walls, floors, chimney breasts and doors to reach the far end of the house, and it loses strength at every one. Older houses with thick walls are worse. So are long houses, extensions, and anything with a loft room or a garden office.
None of that is your fault, and changing broadband provider almost never fixes it, because the broadband arriving at the house was never the problem.
What we actually do
We come and look, free, and walk round the house with you finding the spots where it gives up. Then we put two or three small units around the house that work together as one network, so the signal is strong everywhere and your phone or tablet moves between them without you noticing. Where a unit needs a cable rather than a wireless hop, we run one neatly and make good afterwards.
You keep the same network name and password wherever possible, so nothing on your phone, tablet or television needs setting up again.
What it costs
For most homes it is between £300 and £500, and that includes the equipment and fitting it. A bigger or older house that needs cable run to an upstairs unit can come to more. Whatever it is, you get the exact figure in writing before anything starts, and the visit to look costs nothing whether you go ahead or not.
Who you would be dealing with
We are a small family-run business based in Horsham, covering West Sussex and the Surrey border. We are fully insured, we turn up when we say we will, and we do not talk in jargon. Most of our work comes from people telling a friend, which is the only advertising that actually matters to us.
Before you ring
Why does my WiFi keep dropping out?
Nearly always because one router is being asked to cover more house than it can. The signal has to get through walls, floors and doors, and it weakens with every one. It is rarely anything you have done wrong, and it is usually not your broadband company either.
Do I need to change broadband provider?
Almost never. We work with whatever you already have, whoever it is with. In most homes the broadband arriving is perfectly good and the problem is getting it around the house.
What will it cost?
For most homes, between £300 and £500 all in, including the equipment and fitting it. Bigger or older houses that need a cable run can come to more, and we tell you the exact figure before we start. The visit to look is free and there is no charge if you decide not to go ahead.
How long does it take?
Usually a morning. We tidy up after ourselves, and we do not leave until we have walked round the house with you and checked it works in the rooms that were the problem.
I am not very technical. Is that a problem?
Not in the slightest. Most of our customers do not want to understand it, they want it to work. We set it all up, keep your network name and password the same where we can, and explain what we have done in plain English. If something plays up afterwards, you ring us.
Where we cover
Horsham, Southwater and Broadbridge Heath, Billingshurst, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Crawley, Brighton & Hove and the villages in between. Not sure if we come to you? Ring and ask, we will tell you straight.
