How we use cookies and similar technologies

What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to the website owners.
How We Use Cookies
HomeHub Smart Solutions uses cookies to:
- Remember your cookie consent preferences
- Ensure our website functions correctly
- Understand how visitors use our site (with your consent)
- Measure which of our Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) adverts lead to enquiries (with your consent)
- Improve our website and services
Types of Cookies We Use
Essential Cookies
These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you, such as setting your privacy preferences.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| hhss_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie consent preferences | 1 year |
Analytics Cookies (Optional)
We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use our website, which helps us improve it. Both load on every visit, but until you click "Accept All" they set no cookies: Google receives a basic record of each page view, and Clarity records how the pages are used, such as scrolling, clicks and taps, without cookies, so it cannot link one visit to the next. The cookies below are only set if you click "Accept All" on our cookie banner. Choosing "Essential Only" tells both services not to set them.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics - distinguishes users | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics - maintains session state | 2 years |
| _clck | Microsoft Clarity - user ID and preferences | 1 year |
| _clsk | Microsoft Clarity - stores session data | 1 day |
Advertising Cookies (Optional)
We advertise on Google. With your consent, the Google Ads tag and our own attribution cookie measure which of our adverts lead to enquiries, so we can stop paying for the ones that do not. These cookies are also only set if you click "Accept All" on our cookie banner.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au | Google Ads - links visits and enquiries to our adverts | 90 days |
| _gcl_aw | Google Ads - remembers the advert you clicked to reach us | 90 days |
| hhss_attrib | HomeHub - remembers which advert or campaign link brought you to our site, so an enquiry you send on a later visit is credited to it | 90 days |
If you have accepted these cookies and then send us an enquiry through our website, the Google tag also sends Google a hashed copy of the contact details you typed (your name, phone number, and email address or postcode). Hashing turns each one into a scrambled code before it leaves your browser. Google uses it to match the enquiry to an advert you saw or clicked. Without your consent, it is not sent.
With your consent, we use the Meta Pixel to measure our Facebook and Instagram adverts: whether someone who saw or clicked one of our ads went on to send us an enquiry. The Pixel is not loaded at all, and these cookies are not set, unless you click "Accept All" on our cookie banner. If you accept, the details of an enquiry you send us (your email address and phone number) are also passed to Meta from our own system in scrambled (hashed) form, so Meta can match the enquiry to the advert. If you choose "Essential Only", nothing about you is sent to Meta.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Meta Pixel - recognises your browser so visits and enquiries can be linked to our adverts | 90 days |
| _fbc | Meta Pixel - remembers which of our Facebook or Instagram adverts you clicked | 90 days |
If You Choose "Essential Only"
Our Google tag and Microsoft Clarity still load on every page, but they set none of the optional cookies above. Google then receives only basic information about each visit without a cookie identifier (such as the page, the time and whether you arrived from one of our adverts), which it uses to estimate visits and enquiries overall. Our own advert note, hhss_attrib, is kept in your browser's session storage instead of a cookie, so it is forgotten when you close the tab.
Other Things Stored in Your Browser
A few small items are kept in your browser's own storage rather than in cookies:
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| hhss_landing | The first page of your visit, sent to us with your enquiry if you use our form, so we know which page brought it in | Until you close the tab |
| hhss_attrib | Without your consent: the advert or campaign link that brought you here, sent to us with your enquiry if you use our form | Until you close the tab |
| hhss_lead | The details you typed into our enquiry form, passed to the thank-you page for the Google Ads measurement described above and deleted as soon as that page opens | Until the thank-you page opens |
| hhss_meta_event | A random reference for an enquiry you send through our form, so Meta counts it once and not twice. It holds nothing about you | Until you close the tab |
| hhss_greviews_v1 | A copy of our Google rating and latest reviews, so they are not fetched again on every page. It holds nothing about you | Refreshed after 24 hours |
When you send us an enquiry through our website form, it also tells us the first page you visited and, if you came from one of our adverts or a link carrying a campaign tag, which one. Section 2 of our Privacy Policy explains what we do with that.
Third-Party Cookies
Our fonts are served from this website, not from Google Fonts, so displaying text sets no third-party cookies and sends nothing to Google.
The map on our service areas page comes from Google Maps and only loads when you press “Load the map”. Until then nothing is fetched from Google for it; once it has loaded, Google may set its own cookies.
